So everyone's been wondering what the heck we're up to getting off of FaceBook and all... Well, we're going retro! We miss the days where people had no cell phones and actually lived in the moment (DOESN'T EVERYBODY?) We miss each other and our time together, our meaningful conversations somehow were replaced by FB and all the other social media distractions. Don't get us wrong, we miss our friends. We hope they find us! We hope they join our mailing list! We are trying hard to make the effort to send out a personal email once a week to let everyone know what is going on in our world. And please, feel free to respond to us. We'd love to hear from you! Not only that, we need you to help us reach the people we aren't able to reach anymore. Share our shows, post videos, photos, whatever you feel compelled to do. And most of all, come see a show! We are making an effort to play more local shows again. We love sleeping in our own bed at night and waking up with our kids in the mornings. It really is a beautiful thing.
So... this week. What's going on. Well, Wednesday we head over to LuLu's Gulf Shores for a 5-9pm show. (Get there early! and check in with the hostess!! You can't just seat yourself -- not naming any names ha ha!!) Or better yet, sit at the bar. You can hang out there all night and it's actually a pretty decent seat to see us.
Thursday is our daughter Loretta's 7th birthday (WHERE DOES THE TIME GO!??). It's going to be a beautiful day not only celebrating her life but celebrating the life of a dear friend's father who passed away. We can't put into words the sorrow that comes with losing a loved one, especially a parent who was as loving and giving as this person was. That being said, we are going to somehow try to pull it together to sing "Never Do You Know" at their service Thursday. A song to remind us all to cherish every moment because you never know when it will be your last.
Friday, we swapped shows so those of you who were planning on seeing us at Jack's by the Tracks, please note that we will NOT be there. However we have many more dates in the works at Jacks so please be on the lookout for us soon. This is the biggest weekend of the year on Dauphin Island Parkway for the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and for that, we must make our appearance at the newly discovered hangout, Dority's. We perform Friday from 6-9pm. Get there early and grab a bite to eat.
Saturday is another special day for us as we perform for our church in Loxley, Alabama. The Loxley United Methodist Church is hosting a Haiti Mission Banquet complete with dinner, a Silent Auction, and performances by Sugarcane Jane as well as opener, Ken Lambert (who just released an awesome gospel album produced by Anthony Crawford with Sugarcane Jane on backing vocals). This is a great cause and we encourage you all to come show your support and enjoy this night. $30/couple or $20/single. For tickets: 251-979-7679, at the door, or on our website (click on the event)
One last thing, we are excited to share the latest review from AXS on our new album, Ladders and Edges! (and special thanks to Day Job Rog for the video!)
